Syria stresses expansion of military ties with Iran

TEHRAN (IRNA) – Major General Yahya L. Solayman, the head of a high-ranking Syrian military delegation, stressed the need to expand bilateral military cooperation in a meeting on Saturday with the deputy chairman of the General Command of Iran's Armed Forces, Major General Hassani Sa'di.

Solayman is on a one-week visit to Tehran.

At the meeting, the two sides emphasized on the development of bilateral military and educational ties.

The Syrian delegation conferred with Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Yahya Rahim-Safavi and Minster of Defense Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar.

Syrian delegation also visited different military, educational and cultural centers of Iran including the Foreign Ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), Malek-Ashtar industrial college, Exhibit of Military Capabilities of the Ministry of Defense, Imam Ali Military College and National Defense University.

The Syrian delegation also took part in Tehran Friday prayers ceremony and paid tribute to the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
